Products containing priority substances

K-REACH regulates chemical products which have a possibility of causing exposure to chemical substances hazardous to health. Products that are subject to regulation are goods, parts and accessories ultimately used by consumers for their consumption or productive activities, and excludes products used in productive activities as raw materials, intermediary products, capital goods, etc.

Under K-REACH, product management is obligated to notify on the priority substance content of the product. If the product is confirmed to exceed 0.1% in weight in a single priority substance per item, and said priority substance’s quantity exceeds 1 ton annually across the content of all items of the product, the product must undergo notification before manufacture/import, starting the day after this fact was confirmed.

Exemption of notification for products containing priority substances

In case of chemicals where exposure to humans or the environment can be blocked during ordinary use(cellphone battery fluid, thermometric liquids in thermometers, etc.), chemicals which have been registered/notified for the use of the priority substance included in the product, chemicals sealed within machinery, chemicals in products which have a fixed function in solid form and thus are not released during use, etc. where the chemical is exempt from registration/notification, it is also exempt from product notification for priority substances.
